Today (Wednesday) is our final day in Nashville for the Baseball Winter Meetings. For those of you who have been following the baseball “hot stove” side of this week, there really hasn’t been a big blockbuster signing or trade to this point. I remember during last year’s meetings in Dallas, the gigantic news as we left the hotel was that Albert Pujols was leaving St. Louis for Los Angeles. I don’t think we’ll see something quite of that magnitude today!
Nice night here at the Gaylord Opryland yesterday. Cougars staff, along with other Cubs affiliates who are here this week, were invited to an affiliate reception hosted by the Cubs inside the hotel. Thanks to the Cubs for being such great hosts. We had a chance to meet some of their staff along and talk to some of the other affiliates as well. We’ll be at Cubs Convention next month – be sure to stop by our booth if you’re attending the event in January. By all accounts, it sounds like next year’s Cougars team, based on some of the prospects who played at short-season Boise last summer, could be a very fun one to watch out of the gates in April.
A few meetings this morning/afternoon will fill out the day before we head back for an evening flight to Midway.
Random Opryland fact of the day: a total of 2 million Christmas lights are used both inside and outside the property this holiday season. I don’t envy the group of people who are responsible for having to remove all of the lights and decorations after the holiday! Thanks for reading and following the blog.
