Cougars Charge on in Burlington

Back to .500 after last night’s 11-9 victory over the Burlington Bees, the Cougars battle the Bees tonight in the third of their four-game series at Community Field. The ninth inning has been an issue for the Cougars in this series.

Burlington tied the game on Thursday night with two outs in the bottom of the ninth before winning in 11 innings. Last night, the Cougars surrendered four runs with two outs in the ninth before finally securing the victory as the Bees left the bases loaded.

Tonight, the Cougars will give right-hander Santiago Garrido his first start of the season. Garrido worked in relief after Brooks Pounders in the home opener last Monday. Pounders will be used out of the bullpen following Garrido today.

Here’s tonight’s lineup from manager Brian Buchanan:

Justin Trapp 2B
Orlando Calixte SS
Michael Antonio 3B
Jorge Bonifacio RF
Lane Adams LF
Henry Moreno 1B
Murray Watts DH
Jin-Ho Shin C
Tim Ferguson CF
RHP Santiago Garrido

Alex Llanos is day-to-day after injuring his left hand last night. Justin Trapp replaced him in the outfield and worked up two outfield assists in his first game in the outfield this season. Trapp now leads the club in outfield assists.

First pitch is tonight at 6:30. Cougars on Deck begins at 6:15 p.m. on AM 1280 WBIG and Interact with the broadcast by emailing, writing on the Cougars’ Facebook timeline or by tweeting to @kccougars or @WayneRandazzo.
