It was a beautiful day at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark yesterday as the Kane County Cougars opened the home portion of their schedule with a matinee against the Beloit Snappers. Unfortunately for the home side, the Cougars fell a little short in a 9-7 defeat.
Minnesota top prospect Miguel Sano blasted two home runs with a little help from a brisk breeze blowing out toward right on his second shot. Sano ended up with five runs batted in. Brooks Pounders make his Cougars debut and allowed just one run while striking out six in his 3.2 innings of work.
This afternoon, the Cougars turn to righty Aaron Brooks, who takes his second turn in the Cougars’ rotation. Brooks allowed five earned runs in 1.2 innings in the season opener at Quad Cities last Thursday.
Here’s today’s lineup from manager Brian Buchanan:
Alex Llanos CF
Danny Mateo 3B
Michael Antonio SS
Jorge Bonifacio RF
Lane Adams DH
Justin Trapp 2B
Henry Moreno 1B
