This Time Tomorrow

Good evening, Cougarville! Approximately 24 hours from now, we should be closing in on the halfway point of our first broadcast in the 2012 baseball season from Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa. I hope all of you can tune in to AM 1280 WBIG, beginning at 6:45 p.m. when Cougars On Deck goes on the air followed by a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.

Right-hander Aaron Brooks will make his Cougars debut as the Opening Day starter. Brooks was drafted in the ninth round of last year’s draft out of Cal State San Bernardino. Brooks was third in the NCAA last year in walks per nine innings and left CSSB as the school’s all-time leader in innings pitched.

Former big leaguer Brian Buchanan will make his debut as the 14th manager in Kane County Cougars history. A little known fact about “Buck” is that his father-in-law is Boston Celtics icon John Havlicek. Check out this interview from before he even made his major league debut, back in 1999, when he was coming up the ranks with the Salt Lake Bees.

It should be an eventful night in Quad Cities as the River Bandits are planning to celebrate their 2011 Midwest League Championship. I’ll have pictures, lineups and more game info before I go on the air tomorrow so check back here frequently with the most up-to-date info about the 2012 Kane County Cougars!
